February is a high season for Punta Mita. We recommending booking your flights to PVR as soon as you can. Apps like Hopper and Kayak can help with efficiency of booking process.

Alternative LODging options

For those interested in alternative options for accommodations, here are some ideas:

Airbnb - plenty of different options varying from villas, condos, beach cottages, etc.

VRBO - similar to Airbnb, good when booking for big groups

Los Vernos - luxury condo rentals in Punta de Mita

La Mision de Mita Condos - we stayed here when we came down to look at venues and loved these condos! Great price, about 20 minutes driving from the venue.

FIRST TIME TO MEXICO

Don’t worry. We gotcha covered

DO

Pre-planning (The boring stuff)

  1. Passport

    • Applications can typically take 4-6 weeks, be on the safe side and apply 3 months in advance. That means by Nov for those bad with math :)

  2. Vaccinations

    • If you struggle with gastrointestinal issues (like Mish) get your Hepatitis A shot

    • If traveling with young children or just need an updated Measles shot

  3. Airfare

    • Delta and Alaska have non-stops from Seattle and San Francisco.

  4. Accommodations

Pre-planning(The Fun stuff)

Brush up on your Spanish. Common phrases ex: “Quiero una cervesa, por favor”

Transfer you dollars to pesos, most places take cards but taxis and smaller stores do not

If renting a car, make sure you get the insurance

If staying at an Airbnb, ask the host if they will stock your fridge for you. Many of them are happy to do so as hosting is their main job and they make most of their money off tourism.

Call your cell phone carrier to enable data in Mexico. It’s likely your accommodations will have WiFi but if you want to IG story, Google, Yelp, etc., enabling the plan is generally cheaper than paying for “data as you use”

Day to day (The HELLA FUN STUFF)

Hydrate! Not just with booze, make sure you’re drinking plenty of bottled water.

Wear sunscreen

HAVE FUN/RELAX, YOU ARE IN PARADISE!

Don’t

Do not drink water from the tap.

If you struggle with gastrointestinal issues, bring some tums or anti nausea :)

Things to pack

Pesos

  • not totally necessary but makes life easier

Sunscreen

  • Seattle people, you’ll need 50 SPF, or you’ll come out looking like Gabby this Feb. A lobsta.
